I bought this for my 5 year old based on the good reviews. As the reviews stated, the dress is great quality, and certainly better than other princess dresses. The problem is that the back of it is held together by a thin string that my daughter could never tighten on her own. The dress isn't for easy fun playing. I purchased this dress for my two and a half year old daughter to wear to a princess and pirate birthday party, and when it arrived I was taken aback by how gorgeous it is. It's so nice, I considered buying something else and saving it for a another occasion for fear of it getting ruined at the party. She ended up wearing it, and truly was the "Belle" of the ball. It was a little long for her, so she stepped on the inside front of the dress quite a bit before learning to lift it up as she walked. I was pleasantly surprised to see that, aside from a small rip in the satin inner lining where she stepped, the dress made it through the party unscathed.
