Star Wars Jawa Costume with Light Up Eyes - One Color - Medium - 2.9 out of 5 stars from 21 customer reviews
Nothing like the picture!
Be warned. This costume looks nothing like the pictures. If you zoom in on the pictures on Amazon, the costume appears to be a good-quality cloth material. It's not! It's the very cheap 100% polyster material. In addition, the photos show the double bandolier criss-crossing in the back. The bandoliers on this costume don't look anything like the ones in the picture and they simply velcro to the front of the robe. There is nothing in the back. My son is still impressed with the light-up eyes, but otherwise, the costume is horrible and not at all like it's advertised in the pictures.
Jawas just didn't have small LED red eyes
People who seek to buy a Star Wars costume are always looking for some level of authenticity. I am no different. This costume is by far the best if you are looking for a hood and outfit portion with belts (made of velcro attached molded soft rubber). However, the eyes just weren't right at all and I was disappointed. I don't remember a Jawa with tiny red LED lights spaced far apart in the movies. The ones I remember from the film had subtle glowing orange/yellow orbs or discs. Additionally, what's not so great is the clear plastic inner face cover that has the red LEDs attached. It's hard to breathe through and not that great, as wires are somewhat in the field of vision.
So, necessity is the mother of invention, once again. I went and got a typical Halloween hockey mask, adhered sticky back black felt (from Michael's craft store) to the front and cut out the eye holes with an X-Acto knife. I then backed the mask (inside) with squishy green chair seat foam to bring the face...
my son loves this costume
The eyes are yellow like they are in the movie and my son has had so much fun playing Jawa and Star Wars with this costume. Great!
