Kids Abraham Lincoln Costume - Medium - 3.0 out of 5 stars from 27 customer reviews
Okay for Student Project
I bought this costume for my son to do a presentation on Abraham Lincoln for his Elementary School history class. The body of the costume is one pull over piece, sewn together which ties in the back. There are no pants with the costume so we had to provide our own. The stovepipe hat fit well but came out of the package extremely wrinkled and could never be really smoothed out. The biggest disappointment of this costume was the beard. It is a strip of hair held on in the back by three pieces of double-stick tape. The tape provided did not stick to the face at all and they barely stuck to the beard itself. We had to make due with loops of household tape. One of the old style beards with wire that hooked over the child's ears would have worked better but they may not make those any more. Overall, for the money the costume was okay to use for a child's quick presentation. I do not know how well this particular one would hold up for a school play or for trick-or-treating.
better than what i could sew.
I think most of the reviews here are very true. For the money, it is much cheaper than trying to sew your own. For a one time wear it serves the purpose. Here are some things that I needed to do upon opening. The hat is made out of cheap felt and can rip easily at the seams. Mine had tears at the seam upon opening. ( not from this seller) I easily handstiched those. I took some card stock and made a cylinder and put it up into the hat, and it took out most of the wrinkles, and i also stuffed it with paper to make it more stiff.
I took a piece of elastic and sewed it onto the beard and it seemed to hold by puting the band over my daughters ears...plus even better if the sticky tape will work for a short time.
The shirt was very cute and is a typical costume material that you find in halloween costume packages
If you don't mind making a few improvements to the costume, it's not a bad way to go.
low quality costume
I needed a quick Abe Lincoln costume for my son for Halloween. I chose this one b/c it looked okay in the picture...I should have listened to the review, I hope you do. The beard was awful & didn't stay on at all, the costume piece & hat were totally cheap. Not even worth the low price I paid. You're better off making your own.
