Smiffy's Women's Captain Amethyst Costume, Black/Purple/Gold, Medium - 4.0 out of 5 stars from 1 customer reviews
Quite nice for a packaged costume
With some of the packaged-costume companies really going all-out nowadays (at prices up to or over $200 for what are still essentially disposable costumes) I can't quite give this one 5 stars, but I really really wish I could give it a 4.5. This costume is really quite nice, and since I'm jazzing it up for more long-term use as the basis of a much more elaborate costume, I'm glad that it's a good form to start with. I never intended to try the leggings, so I can't speak to the fit there, but the M/L coat works fine on me (even with my broad shoulders) and I'm a solid US size 8 or 10, depending on the retail store you use for sizing. The cuffs on the coat and the leggings are particularly nice--very soft and flowy. I'll be removing the lace layer there, but almost wish I weren't--it's SO soft! I'm adding shoulder pads to help shape it out, and added a heavy gold rope-trim at the edge of the existing trim, and these touches have really made this somewhat cheap-o costume really pop!
