I got this cheerful dog outfit for my sister;s terrier. He has a face for hats so the chief hat is just perfect and the whole costume is very cute. It is made of plastic so is shiny and waterproof. I don't think it looks cheap. Just cute and cheerful.
Get a smaller size
Whatever size you would normally get for your dog, get a size smaller. My dog wears a medium so that's what I ordered and it's huge. It fits my Grandmother's English Bulldog if that helps at all. To me, a bulldog is large. Other than the sizing issue it's a very cute outfit.
