20s Charleston Flapper Adult Halloween Costume Size Standard (O/S) - 2.0 out of 5 stars from 2 customer reviews
Good things and bad!
After looking at just about every flapper dress available on Amazon, this is the one I decided upon. The thing I really like about it is the length. It is a more modest length than many of the other flapper costumes available on here, which appealed to me from both a comfort standpoint as well as a historical one. However, I WAS very anxious about the sizing -- I am a size 10, but toward the larger end of that (so more like a 10/12 than a 8/10). After emailing the seller, I was assured that I could return the costume after trying it on if it didn't fit, and I went ahead and ordered it.
It IS very tight. It fit in that I could apply it to my body, and the fringe made it look better than it might have otherwise, because there was some odd bulging and pouching in the material as it needed to fit to my curves -- I have an hourglass figure, but the dress is a straight-up-and-down tube, so it was quite tight across the hips and thighs, but too loose in the waist. I could not sit down...
Size not as discribed
I am very disappointed in this dress. I know costume sizes typically run very small, but since the description of this dress said it fit up to a size 10 and I am normally about a 4-6 I thought I would take a chance. The dress is entirely too tight around my hips (to the point it is unwearable) and incredibly baggy up top. The spaghetti straps are also too long and need to be shortened. In order to make this dress work for me I will need to completely restructure it. In the end one-size it is not.
