Pros: Made of durable fabric which is woven 100% cotton, not that cheap knit stuff that picks up so easily. Could be altered because it is woven fabric. Top and skirt are separate, which allows it to fit person of almost any height. Hems are actually folded and stitched down.
Cons: When washed and dried, it shrank as you would expect 100% to shrink, which was A LOT. When I took it out of the bag, one of the ties at the back of neck fell off. After trying it on, one of the buttons fell off. It was supposed to come with two hair bows, but package only contained one. The blue color of the fabric is not the same as the blue color of the ric-rac trim. The waist is pretty small on this thing!
Overall: This costume will shrink, and some parts may need to be resown, but it will last for years. I am very pleased with the fact that it is not that cheap stretchy knit fabric with raw-cut edges that have simply been serged over. Glad I bought it.
Very Authentic Dorothy Costume!
I looked high and low for an authentic looking Dorothy costume. This one is perfect. The dress is 2 pieces: a shirt and a jumper. The costume also comes with 2 gingham ribbons for your hair. The quality was pretty good (better than most similarly priced Halloween costumes). As for Sizing - I usually wear a 6 or an 8, but another reviewer had mentioned that the waist was tight on her. Since I have a large ribcage area, I went with the XL just to be safe and I'm glad I did. The dress was enormous everywhere, but it fit perfectly around my rib cage (you can see in the picture that the jumper sits right under the breasts rather than on the waist). I had the rest of the dress hemmed and taken in and it fit great. I probably could have gotten away with a Large, but I would definitely go one size up if you're concerned about fit. The same reviewer had said it was very tight in her arms. I think a a smaller size would have fit fine in the arms for me, so use your judgment on that...
Looked good, appeared well made
I have no real complaints about this item - I had to safety pin the back to make it fit well, but that is to be expected for an item that has to work for a wide range of sizes. It looked great onced pinned, and it was not obvious where it was pinned.
